Yamm & Pok Aing are leaving today meanwhile the rest will be tomorrow (31 July) morning. Good luck to racing ROAMers and do us proud. Looking forward for updates from them. This is the first urban DH being held at a considerably high altitude location with cold weather and awesome environment. For entertainment, hmmm? not sure what fraser hill can offer....come back and tell us yeah!

Aim is the King of Banshee Kiara DH Rage (25 July 2010)

Congratulations to Pok Aing for dominating and showing others how to ride in a really wet conditions. He is the champion of Men Elite category in a very stiff and steep competition with Malaysian, Indonesian, Singaporean, Thailand and Australian aces. He won a handful of prizes and cash plus a cold hard cash of RM1000 due to 1st place and RM1000 extra courtesy of Team Element JHB. Congrats to Adam (Fakawi|Banshee) and Ian Krempl (Unsprung|Rollick) for finishing 2nd & 3rd.

Banshee Kiara DH Rage Announcement

Attn all DH racers!

Thank you for your support for Malaysian DH Super Series (MDHSS). The 3rd installment, the Banshee Kiara Rage, is just around the corner.

Please take note:
24 July 2010 - Registration, race form & fee submission (RM75). Race form can be DOWNLOADED HERE (.pdf document). All Junior riders must get their parent/guardian consent signature on the form when signing up!
Registration booth will be at Taman Lembah Kiara Car Park and open from 12pm-4pm.

We will not entertain any last minute registration after 4pm or on Sunday (race day) morning.

Please use the old race plate in Bukit Cermin DH Challenge or should you have lost it you will get a new one with RM5 fee.

We will be using Race Boy RFID (timing device) and a refundable deposit of RM50 is required during installation on Sunday (race day)
The RM50 will be refunded once the RFID is returned to Race Boy. RFID installation will start at 7am on Sunday

racers and visitors please note: NO VEHICLES ARE ALLOWED TO BE PARKED IN THE TAMAN. THANK YOU.

Uplift will start at 7.30am with Juniors and Hardtail categories will proceed first.

Seeding run will start on 9.15am.

Men Juniors
Women Open
Men Master
Men Sport
Men Expert
Men Elite
Failure to start seeding run will result failing to start final run.

Final run will start at 2.30pm. Uplift for final run will start at 1.45pm with same process.

As the Head Honcho of ROAM and on behalf of ROAM as well, we would like to congratulate Stan Legend and Pok Aing for clenching the Gold and Bronze medal in the latest installment of Sukan Malaysia.

We are so very very proud to you two. Keep on racing Juniors.... Show people what Downhill is all about.

#2 UKDI - Klemuk Batu, Malang, East Java, Indonesia

Master Yamm qualified 1st for Men DH Master C on Saturday. But in final run on Sunday, due to slippery track and twice washed out, he finished 6th.
But our Master Yamm is still gunning for that track that cost him dearly in 2009 where he had 2 nasty crashes during seeding and final run. Next year and next time yeah Master Yamm, u'll get it the championship.

We will wait for his race report. He'll back tomorrow (tuesday May 1, 2010).

Next race for UKDI will be in Bali 18 July 2010. But the ROAMers are competing in Phuket 1st on July 4th.

Banshee Kiara DH Rage will be on 24-25 July 2010. So July is a busy month.

OZ Race report - ELDE

I was over whelmed off seeing the track for the first time. My first reaction was WOW!

Walked the track few times, then got riding with a couple (a lot hehehe ) of run just to get the feel for the track. Afternoon came around saw few riders getting in to it, I was nervous just looking and studying their lines. Their gates were fast. When it got to

practice with other riders I was nervous/excited coz I wanted to see where I stand in fitness/performance wise.

2^nd day until qualifying day was like morning session and afternoon session. Practice summary:- I cleared most of the basic jumps. The more technical jumps I had to get some guidance from local riders.

Jumping to Qualifying day (Friday 14^th May) 9am...I was 6^th person to go according to race numbers. Over all my run was ok. Didn’t expert a fast time, but I qualified 15^th out of 20 riders (that advance to racing) with the time of 59.8sec.

Race day…I was in moto no.3 to start, managed to do 3heats then I got knocked. Racing was full of pushing and shoving but. In the end I ended in 10^th B mens.

Saturday evening was Dual Slalom, with a simple track with was fun…u just had to pedal every you could. Got 7^th in B Mens. - ELDE

fast fact :

1. scheduled 3pm-9pm
2. 160 riders
3. seeding & final same day - event started at 4pm
4. only 10 transponder unit
5. seeding finished at 10pm
6. top 20 open category 'faster' than all elite - silly mistake
7. all light were out at 1030pm
8. final............. cancelled

Last night was the worst event most of us ever competed in. For rp150 000 fee we expected to have fun on the no-elevation-3 climbs course. But for some reason and non smooth operation, the seeding results were used as final result.

I competed in elite with 5 others. And after taking the seeding result I placed last with 1min18sec, winner is Kamra with 50 secs!! bloody fast on a full DH bike.

Our 4X specialist is in Mt. Stromlo, Australia now practicing for Red Ass 4X event. He is accompanied by his wife cum coach, personal assistant and manager. it's 6pm ishhh here, just finished getting the feel and runs of the 4X track. No pics yet mayb tomoro get some. Weather? cloudy/sunny but chilly at the same time hehehe...hope it doesn't rain on race day/nite...just got 1 pair of tires huhu...

Track: is almost 1min run, havent done my actual timing yet, Red: dino shit r huge but smooth, not like mann's version hehehe...jumps r between 5 to 25footers.

Tomoro some more practice! Practice! Practice! huhu...evening go touring around with wifey.

sat is race day ( Mens B, smthing like expert) mayb race under flood lights yet TBC. Seen one Mens A (elite) guy do his starts n run, damn power n fakin fast...but hey he mayb rides here every day rite hehehe. Mens B riders r quick too...The nerv's r in my gut hehehe...but think its a good sign haha... just need to tame the track from tomoro onwards.

Redbull Downtown Lisboa 2010 - Won by local amateur

Looks like Peaty has given the throne of Lisboa to Paulo Domingues, 30 years old amateur. “I still can not believe that I beat the best athletes of the World, I’m still incredulous! I actually came here to fight for the title of the best Portuguese rider and leave the place by the big door, it seems like a dream. I feel so happy, because I am an amateur and they are professional”. Amarelo (Team Biciplus Sportcity/CM Sesimbra), as is known in the middle of mountain biking, completed the thousand meters of the track in 1:46.122 minutes. The podium was completed, respectively, with the Slovak Filip Polka (MS Evil Racing) and South African Greg Minnaar (Santa Cruz Syndicate).
UB's advise, pursue your dreams. Plan and set your goals so you can be among the few.

Trail building - MDHSS#3 Race Track

at the end of that, you will start the steep section that can only be described as Champery-ish. More work to be done so careful. This will lead to...

an off camber right turn which will be banked at the bottom so that you can come in hot and just SMASH it!!

BCDC-The milliseconds battle

The month of March had been super hot with average of 37 degree celcius, but that don’t stop ROAMers and also riders from our region, inclusive Singapore to participate in this race. This will be the last race held in bukit cermin, putra height. Due to human greedy, the place will be chop off to build some expensive bungalow area. Good bye to our training ground. The track had been build nicely by BCriders where it consists of set of jumps, wall rides, drops, tabletops, berms, rock gardens and so forth. 5th BCDC, is it gonna be a 'Wet & Wild Race'?

Is BC gonna look like this?. Perhaps with the daily heavy downpour in the evening, it could be. Get yer' spikes out, Wetscream, K.O.T, Black Turtle, Muddy Mary, Don't let it rot in the closet. Imagine 100-150 riders riding it, torture it, braking or skidding, kissing the earth, the last man down gonna descend in the worst condition. He will be hailed as King of BC.The new rock section will be the most popular place for spectators. Its rocky, sharp edge, loose and slippery. Just hold on to the bars mate....!

Our raging junior ROAMer, Pak Aim showed his prowess in cycling discipline at Sukan Trengganu, 5-7 February 2010 by clinching :
1 Gold medal for Men DH event
1 Silver medal for Road Criterium
1 Silver medal for Road Team event
1 Silver medal for Cross Country event
Fresh from his battle at Mt. Austin DH Challenge 2010, he battled his way to Trengganu representing MSN Pahang for 4 cycling event. It is very rare to have a cyclist competing in 3 major cycling discipline (MTB DH & XC and Road). He is on hi-speed mode now.
ROAMers are so very proud of his victory and results.
